BROKEN SUBSCRIPTION MECHANISMS

Evidently, the subscription mechanisms are broken to this forum:

I did not go through a process to join — an already-existing account was simply made available to me. That open account has a creation date two days before my visit. No registration. No opportunity to set username or other fields. No login. No password. No ability to set password. No logout to test password. Nothing.

Likewise, I'm not receiving email notifications; and it doesn't seem the available account processes are storing password or email address information to my account fields.

That's majorly dysfunctional.

But worse, many posts indicate all this has been broken for years!

What's going on here?

I've just logged in from the main EDB page. This is a test post to see if my regular account information is available or deployed.

OK. So I was able to log in from the main (front) EDB pages, and my login held for the forum.

1. That means we have inadvertent open access to an uncompleted account as at least one of the problems. That has to be closed.

2. Further problems are that there is no login or registration dialog to the forum. Why not carry the same login/register dialog forward to the forum?

3. Further testing should demonstrate whether email or other fields are properly handled in the resultant accounts. But that's not my responsibility.
