Installed PostgreSQL 8.4.4 on Win XP Pro as a service. For unknown reasons, it wouldn't run. From PgAdmin either the server wouldn't start or it says it did but wouldn't connect or some combination of the two errrors.
Uninstalled the whole mess and Windows said to restart the computer. I did, but now when I try to reinstall Postgres, I get an error message saying "A service (PostgreSQL-8.4) already exists. Please specify another name."
I'm using the "one-click" installer. How do I "specify another name"?

How did you uninstall PostgreSQL?

Please share the install-postgresql.log file which you can find in %TMP% directory.

Also, please check if any postgres services exists in Services.

Thanks & Regards,
