impossible to install postgreSQL on mac OS 10.5.8

Dear all,

I run a company and I would like to set up an open source ERP openbravo.
Since it's necessary to install postgreSQL 8.3.9-1 , I download from the website but when the set up en i have an error as described in attachement.

" Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly The database cluster initialization failed"

I'm not familar with development on MAC OS, so I would like to know what should I do to be abble to install postgreSQL 8.3.9-1.

BTW, I have PostgreSQL 1.8.4 already installed in my computer. Maybe it's possible to get upgrade directly?

Where can I find this?

- I checked on Terminal and seems i don't have access even if i'm administrator and unique user of this computer

here is the detail :
mac:~ steu$ /tmp/install-postgresql.log
-bash: /tmp/install-postgresql.log: Permission denied

- I found the directory and file using FileZila but it's same "Permission denied" as enclosed file screenshot

Try using sudo..
like, sudo vi /tmp/install-postgresql.log [you will need to give the users password with whom you are firing this command].

Did anyone figure out what the problem was? I am having this problem installing 8.4 and 9.0. Log attached.
